PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT (PPE) POLICY

203.5 PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT (PPE) POLICY-1

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Policy

The purpose of the Personal Protective Equipment Policy is to protect the employees of PHILCORE and subcompany and contractors from exposure to work place hazards and the risk of injury, through the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

It is a fact that at the worksite, there is always an inherent amount of risk involved that needs mitigating.

Personal protective equipment will be provided, used, and maintained when it has been determined that its use is required to ensure the safety and health of our employees and that such use will lessen the likelihood of occupational injury and/or illness.

As a minimum for our own staff and contractor employees, at worksites (onshore and offshore) indicating the requirements for PPE:

  • Safety helmets must be used at all times.
  • Safety shoes and boots (where ankle protection is required) must be worn.
  • Safety glasses or eye shields are to be used outside accommodation and office areas in operating facilities, workshops and construction sites and other areas specifically sign‐posted or governed by local rules.
  • Correct gloves must be use to protect hands against chemical, physical and biological hazards.
  • Do not wear jewelry when working on electrical and mechanical equipment.
  • Long sleeve coveralls must be worn and/or Inherent coverall (Fire Retardant) in hazardous area.
  • Hearing protection must be used when sign posted.

PPE signs must be put up at appropriate locations and be visible to all; reminding us of those requirements. If you feel that required PPE is inadequate for the job, do not hesitate to request additional or special types of PPE specific to the nature of the activity, which must be specified on Permit to Work.
